nyc shoppe windows abound with ikat patterns these days, which gave us the idea to create Ziggy, a basic ikat patterned cushion knit using the intarsia technique.
intarsia knitting can be a bit harrowing but in a fun way. we thought we would post our work in process. it’s a mess, isn’t it? in the photo above, we cable cast-on with 17 different yarn segments (8 in clementine and 9 in studio white). since our initial forays, we’ve fiddle around with the pattern a bit, so that the cast-on row (at least) isn’t quite as hairy.
have faith! once all the loose ends have been woven end, it all turns out neatly. even the back-side looks mildly presentable!
