there’s something about the classic herringbone pattern, named after the bone pattern of the herring fish, that we find so beguiling. it’s modern, striking and timeless all at the same time. over the weekend, we whipped up quinn, a two-toned herringbone scarf, that looks dashing on both guys and gals.
quinn utilizes a two color slipped stitch pattern, resulting in a doubly thick and cozy fabric. the slipped stitch technique knits up much more quickly than if one were to replicate the design through fair isle. while the back is different from the front, the slipped stitches arrange themselves neatly and nicely into a “purl-side” herringbone pattern.
we knit quinn with qualitá cashmere, our line of cashmere spun in tuscany, and selected wonderful white and mondrian’s black for the high color contrast. we currently carry qualitá cashmere in 9 colors, which works out to 72 different color combinations! we’ve added perfect rose / parisienne chocolate to our christmas to-knit list already!
best of all, the quinn pattern is free with the purchase of 4 skeins of qualitá cashmere or clever camel. just write “quinn” in the comments box at checkout and we’ll send you a hardcopy of the pattern.
