faux entrelac ?

helter-skelter

it’s been a while since we added to the swatch library. since we’ve been hit with a flurry of ideas (and a serious case of starter-itis), now seems as good as a time as ever to resume entries in our little swatch collection.

THE LO DOWN

the stitch is called the “tilting block pattern” in the walker treasury.  garter stitch blocks alternate with simple lace trellis blocks to create a checked pattern at an interested angle.  the right and left slants produced by alternating between SSK and K2tog stitches creates the tilt.  it almost looks like you worked really really hard to create the texture through an entrelac approach, but really everything is just stitched across the row.   a very easy to memorize lace stitch makes knitting this a breeze!

the best kind of surprise!

Pouch-and-Cardwe picked up our mail this morning and out popped the best kind of surprise!  meredith of olivia jane handcrafted sent us this STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL pouch in the mail.   we’re in total awe of the worksmanship and level of detail!

Card-insideit features a liberty’s tiny poppytot print, a buttery soft leather bottom, a beautiful brass zipper, padded all over for a luxurious feel . . .

Inside . . . and what a touch those whimsical chambray dots and the interior pocket are!

Pouch-with-Skeinsit seems so cozy inside . . . that some mini skeins from rhichard devrieze just wanted to snuggle up inside.  thank you meredith!!!!

meredith has a few of these left in her etsy shop. she sold out of the first few batches but if you’re lucky and fast enough, you might just be able to snag one for yourself!  run….don’t stop!

UPDATE: the last one just went!  but if you send her a note and beg really hard, she might just be able to whip one up for you.

on-sofa

sometime last year we took on a not so tiny home decor project for a friend.  it started out being just one room and then it became the entire house!  getting to the knitted object in the photo above, we wanted something that was neutral but with a lot of luxurious texture and heft.  not being able to find such thing at the time, we commissioned ourselves to knit it!
