washi x liberty

it’s no small secret that we’re a little bit obsessed with liberty.  we love how smooth and silky the fabrics are.  we love the detail and thoughtfulness that goes into the designs. and we love to sew with liberty.  the fabrics sew beautifully (especially when you’ve outfitted your machine with a microtex needle!)   often times, when we place our liberty fabric orders, we have a million ideas about how brilliant a given fabric would look if fashioned into a dress, a tank, or whatever…

pearce dreams on cotton + steel

pearce did a very bad thing a few weeks ago.  yup . . . he managed to scratch a very large hole on both sides of his dog bed cover.   his new bed took about 10 days to arrive . . .  and, well in between the wait, we got so sick and tired of hearing him pace back and forth in the middle of the night (for want of proper bedding, of course), that we decided to make him a new dog bed…

a jinzenji skirt

look what we made on friday!  a skirt based on liesl + co’s everyday skirt pattern and yoshiko jinzenji’s simple quilt fabric!   looks sort of avant-garde, no?  the best part is that making the skirt out of this particular fabric is a bit like opening up a box of chocolates  . . . you never quite know where the patterned patches are going to fall on the skirt until you’re done.  every skirt ends up being totally unique! plus . . . it’s super comfy,  and has got these wonderful…

nani iro toddler pants (free pattern and tutorial)

remember those nani iro pants we made for our favorite rambunctious toddler?   well, the kid liked them so much we decided to make him another pair (albeit in a larger size – the gray version). we also stitched up 2 more pairs for E & M, our favorite set of fraternal twins to wear a few months down the road.   E is quite a bit larger than M, and hence he gets a 86 cm pair while we whipped up an 80 cm…
